Original and bilingual poster (and one of the very few in landscape format) by Baldo or Teobaldo Carugo (1903 – 1930), with which the local tourist office attracted visitors from both German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland to the capital of the canton of Ticino. Today, Carugo is best known for his sgraffito vedute in the historicist town hall, which was built between 1924 and 1926 and recapitulates four centuries of Bellinzona’s architectural history.

The text also alludes to Bellinzona’s history, “the city of the Middle Ages” with its “magnificent castles” – meaning the Castelgrande, the Castello di Sasso Corbaro and the Castello di Montebello – as well as “the artistic town hall and the cathedral with its artistic treasures”.
