As spa director of St. Moritz, Walter Amstutz and graphic designer Walter Herdeg designed the sun emblem in 1930 (and patented it in 1937), which is still used today. In 1938, they founded the advertising agency Amstutz & Herdeg in Zurich – which meant that the congenial duo could now also work for other clients.
This original poster promoting the winter sports resort of Mürren in the Bernese Oberland may have been one of their first poster designs, probably created at the end of the 1930s, using their still-proven photomontage technique. The photographer of the images used is – at least to us – unknown; most likely it will be Emanuel Gyger and/or Arnold Klopfenstein. Rare.
