Tanned, sporty and obviously very happy to be in Villars: Johannes Handschin from Basel created this original Art Deco poster in 1934 on behalf of the local tourism authority and the Palace Hotel, which still dominates the center of the village.
The spa town in the Vaud region (now Villars-sur-Ollon), which was already chic at the time, advertised here for summer guests with a golf player, a tennis player and a lady in a bathing costume – while it did not fail to recommend itself as a winter sports resort too with the silhouette of the peaks in the background; the ski slopes of Les Diablerets are not much more than a stone’s throw away.
