|in the air, Swissair, Switzerland
One of the very first posters designed specifically for Swissair, created by Theodor “Teddy” Brunner, who founded his own agency in Zurich in the mid-1930s. The exact year of printing can no longer be ascertained, but based on the DC-3 depicted, which was in service from 1937 (and, incidentally, was assembled by Fokker in Amsterdam, which is why experts like to refer to it as the Douglas-Fokker DC-3), it is likely to have been 1937 or 1938 – possibly by Brunner himself. Individual contours of the aircraft have been heightened in white by hand.
Rarer than rare; at least we are not aware of a second copy.
