An Original Vintage Travel Poster that is challenging in several respects. Firstly, in terms of authorship: the style and the logo in the right-hand corner of the upper arrow clearly indicate Martin Peikert as the creator. However, the poster is also signed «M. J.» in the lower left-hand corner. This suggests M. Jotterland – about whom, however, no further information can be found.
The date is also problematic, as the line in the Vaud Jura (opened in 1895) was electrified in May 1943. However, Peikert only used his signature with the three wavy lines (which probably stood for his cigarette smoke) until 1936; after that, he only signed with his last name. Furthermore, Peikert did not begin working regularly with the Klausfelder printing company until 1944. This does not rule out a one-time collaboration in 1935, of course, but it does make it rather unlikely.
