Very elaborately printed original poster by the French Hugo d’Alési, who was also active in Switzerland – at the end of the 19th century Swiss clients had almost no choice but to look abroad as there were hardly any local artists with experience in poster design.
The Jura-Simplon railway company, for its part, was nationalized in 1903 as the largest Swiss railway company at the time and integrated into the newly founded SBB.
