The initiative “For the one-time levy on assets” launched by the Social Democrats to reduce the debts incurred during the First World War was rejected in December 1922 with a “no” vote registering 87% (!) of the valid votes.
Charles Edouard Gogler’s red claw reaching for a simple peasant left no room for interpretation. As far as is known, this is the only poster by the draughtsman, sculptor and former director of the Saint-Imier School of Applied Arts.
