In line with the social upheaval after the First World War, the Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft held its first masked ball in 1921, which became a highlight of the Zurich ball season in the following years – accordingly, the 1500 or so tickets were quickly sold out. However, the effects of the global economic crisis made the colorful goings-on seem less than opportune, and so the last event was held in 1932.
