Original Vintage Poster announcing in 1890 the opening of the train route between Les Brenets and Le Locle in the Neuchâtel Jura, which is still in operation today and is only around four kilometers long. As was customary with Swiss posters before the turn of the century, the clients tried to convey as much information as possible (timetable, location) and to combine this with several views of the region (border river Doubs, Lac des Brenets, …), even despite the quite small format.
The first examples of modern posters without vignettes, vedute and similar frippery, trimmed for long-distance effect, first appeared in Switzerland around 1900.
