Hotel pioneer Cäsar Ritz founded the Berneralpen Milk Company in 1892 to sterilize milk in Stalden, Emmental, for the hotel industry. The glass bottles were soon replaced by cans, and it was these cans that carried the greatly expanded company (thanks not least to the Stalden-Crème developed in 1903 and world-famous in Switzerland) through the Save the Great Depression of the early 1930s – however, filled with fruit and Vegetables. In 1971 Nestlé – who else? – takes over the business; in 2020 the multinational sells it to Glarus.

In his design, Willi Trapp makes use of the trompe-l’œil effect, which was very en vogue at the time: a reproduction of the product that is as deceptively realistic as possible, even going so far as to include the reflections off the metal. An original poster that, to the best of our knowledge, has never been on the market and, with its rich red cherries, looks great in any dining area.
