Original exhibition poster by Ernst Scheidegger and Heinz and Christa Waldvogel for the first solo exhibition of the British sculptor Henry Moore in Zurich—deliberately designed to be extremely understated, knowing that the sheer presence of the depicted «Reclining Figure», which UNESCO commissioned from him in 1956 for the plaza in front of its headquarters in Paris, is striking enough.

Moore made his international breakthrough in 1951 at the latest, when the BBC aired a documentary about him—the first in the world to feature a living artist. His large-scale works, exhibited as part of his first solo exhibition in Switzerland, held a year earlier in Bern, sculptures that, despite their abstraction, never lose their figurative quality didn't want to see 2,000 visitors just yet.

Since the Moore exhibition in 1976, his «Sheep Piece» has had a permanent home on Zurich’s lakefront promenade.
