Original poster commissioned in 1949 by the operators of the Gurtenbahn from the Bern artist Hugo Wyler to mark the 50th anniversary. It was then designed by his student Ronald Kocher (*1929), who depicted the residents of Bern as ladybugs climbing up a flower stem—symbolizing their good fortune, since the funicular has been effortlessly transporting them from Köniz to Bern’s local mountain virtually anytime (and continues to do so to this day). An exceptionally cute poster—so cute, in fact, that Wyler signed it, while Kocher came away empty-handed.
