Original poster from the first series, commissioned by Swissair in 1961 by Nikolaus Schwabe – here using the motif of a geisha to promote the Swiss airline’s connections to Japan. The unmistakable, plastic collage motifs are inspired by Schwab’s sculptural studies in the mid-1940s with Fernand Léger in Paris.
