Original Swiss posters created after around 1960 don’t really fit PLACART’s usual collection criteria. For one thing, by 1960 even the last Swiss printing houses had stopped producing lithographs; for another, photographs had replaced everything else—and print runs were also getting higher and higher.

This original poster, on the other hand: Wow—what an exception to the rule. A photograph, published in 1971, yes, but how dynamic, how vibrant. Don’t you inevitably get the impression that you can feel the speed, the stinging wind in your face…?

Photograph by Fritz Weyrich (b. 1935, student and later instructor at the Zurich School of Applied Arts); design (presumably) by Publicité Weber & Sablonier, Lausanne.
