Original Swiss poster, designed in 1942 by Herbert Leupin on behalf of Ciba in Basel to promote their Bi-oro brand sunscreen – executed as an object poster using the methods of Magic Realism, which places the product at the center with deceptive realism, almost photographically.
The intention behind this: to portray the goods not only as charming, but above all as objectively as possible, trusting that this maximum objectivity makes the promise of quality all the more credible. This succeeds particularly well here, as Leupin does not need a single word or even a slogan. The brand name on the product is completely sufficient here.
