A copy from the edition Swissair used in the spring of 1949 to promote the launch of its regular service to New York (at that time still operated by four-engine DC-4s, with stopovers in Shannon, Ireland, and Gander, Newfoundland) —a risky move for the airline, which was still finding its feet at the time, but one that soon proved to be an excellent decision.

This photomontage, featuring the impressive Rockefeller Building, was designed by the Zurich painter and graphic artist Henri Ott (1919–2009), a Zurich-based painter and graphic artist who created countless posters for Swissair beginning in 1948, after first completing an apprenticeship as a sign painter and then briefly enrolling at the Zurich School of Applied Arts in 1938.

Unlike the numerous later text variants – such as on the occasion of the acquisition or use of the more modern DC-6 models – this very first version appeared with Henri Ott's signature at the bottom right and the «Schnüerlischrift» logo used until 1950. Exceptionally rare and in outstanding condition.
