Original tourism poster inspired by the spirit of Concrete Art, which, according to the records of the advertising manager who worked for Swissair for decades, can undoubtedly be attributed to Nikolaus Schwabe (1926 – 2018). After dropping out of the Zurich School of Arts and Crafts, Schwabe studied sculpture in Paris under Fernand Léger, among others, starting in 1944. Schwabe incorporated the three-dimensional starting in 1961 in his first series of Swissair posters designed using collages.
The present draft stems from his enthusiasm for Platonic solids and geometry, from which those objects also originate that Schwabe exhibits in the Espace de l’Art Concret opened in 1990 by Gottfried Honegger and Sybil Albers-Barrier at the Château de Mouans.
