Balair Line

Original poster from 1926 advertising Balair, which had been founded in Basel shortly before—that is, the airline whose merger with Zurich's Ad Astra in 1931 gave rise to Swissair. The design is by Niklaus Stoecklin, one of Switzerland's pioneering poster designers. Note the (albeit short-lived) connection to La Chaux-de-Fonds—the watch industrialists there expected it to give them advantages in distribution.

The aircraft pictured is a Fokker Grulich—admittedly not depicted entirely accurately—a model developed in Germany in 1920, five of which Balair operated starting in 1926. Its top speed was around 150 km/h, and its range was just under 650 kilometers.
