An original poster, designed in 1943 by Peter Birkhäuser for the Rheinbrücke department store in Basel in the New Objectivity style—and a poster that, given the emphasis on the maximum utility of the objects depicted, could only have been printed during the years of World War II. On the other hand: At least Swiss companies were in a position to advertise consumer goods at all.
