Original Swissair Poster from 1937, which was originally commissioned by the Swiss Tourist Office from Eugen Häfelfinger (1898 – 1979), to be used with several text variants, especially in Germany and France. Swissair then jumped on the bandwagon for obvious reasons and commissioned its own edition, also with several text variants, but without a printing credit. A charming poster, whereas the Swissair versions are much rarer than those of the tourism authority.
However, the public at the time probably did not take the slogan “Fast and comfortable” too seriously: Compared to train travel, for example, flights on the DC-2 were certainly not comfortable (rather a noisy, chilly and bone-shaking adventure), and “fast” was to be understood quite relatively in fog and rain.
