Original Vintage Travel Poster by the Italian Artist Enrico Buffetti promoting the Seethal-Bahn in Switzerland around 1905. Opened in 1883, it was linking Emmenbrücke (canton of Lucerne) and Lenzburg (canton of Aargau) via the Seetal (Lake Valley) that is distinguished by Lake Hallwil and Lake Baldegg.
The artwork in the very tradition of Art Nouveau features an idyllic scene of Lake Hallwil, with the train pulled by a steam engine on the bottom right, above the route plan.
However, there is little known about Buffetti – but there are a few posters more that he created and that Trüb in Aarau printed, so I’d say he was employed by the print shop as draftsman for a short period, probably during his grand tour through Europe.
