The first of only a very few posters that Swissair issued to advertise its cargo service and at the same time one of the even rarer original Swiss posters in landscape format – created in 1956 by Eugen Lenz (1918 – 1998), a Swiss graphic designer who produced some posters as well as brochures and other advertising material on behalf of Swissair. Rudolf Bircher’s pioneering logo, reminiscent of a jet plane (designed in 1951; the first passenger jets did not enter service until around 1960) had such a high quality for Lenz – and not only for him – that it dominates almost the entire lower right quarter.
