Original poster by an anonymous author who was commissioned by the agency of Zurich advertising pioneer Max Dalang. It is also possible that Dalang himself took up pen and chalk. In this case, it is not even unusual that the printing company isn’t named and therefore remains unknown – agencies such as Dalang’s advertised that they could provide customers with everything from a single source; other companies in the impring would be rather counterproductive.

The story of Elmer Citro – a Swiss evergreen – begins in 1925, when the owner of the local spa hotel comes up with the idea of bottling the water from the springs above Elm (which, by the way, seeps through the rock strata for around eight years). He soon enriched the mineral water with lemon syrup and natural flavors and immediately registered the name and the logo, which is still used today.

The motif takes up this trademark, in which St. Fridolin – who, coming from Ireland, is said to have brought the people of Glarus to Christianity in the 6th century – catches the spring water in a cup.
