Original Aviation Poster advertising in 1926 Balair, which had been founded in Basel shortly before – the airline whose merger with Zurich-based Ad Astra gave rise to Swissair in 1931. Created by Niklaus Stoecklin, one of the pioneering Swiss Poster designers. Note the (albeit short-lived) connection to La Chaux-de-Fonds; the local watchmaking industry hoped this would bring advantages in terms of distribution.
The aircraft shown is a Fokker Grulich – admittedly not quite correctly reproduced –, a model developed in Germany in 1920, of which Balair operated five aircrafts from 1926. It had a top speed of around 150 km/h and a range of 650 kilometers.
