A fabulous original poster – by an author who cannot be identified for the time being–, promoting Andermatt, located at the foot of the Gotthard Pass, as a winter destination with the image of a steam locomotive of the Furka-Oberalp Railway pushing the wagons downhill in the middle of the snow-covered Urseren Valley.
This advertising measure was probably prompted by the inauguration in the summer of 1926 of the FO line between Brig in the canton of Valais via Gletsch to Disentis in the canton of Graubünden, which now could be used throughout. It connected Andermatt to one of the main axes of rail traffic – after the Gotthard line still left the village outside, to which it only had access via the Schöllenen Railway running to Göschenen.
